About Me

Me July 2015

I have been meaning to write an ‘About Me’ page for some time but I don’t like talking about myself too much….so here goes.

I was born in Kilmarnock in Scotland in 1979 and emigrated to Tasmania with my family in 1979

I am a divorced father of two fantastic children and live on my own in a two bedroom apartment for when my children come and stay with me. It’s a nice little apartment at the end of a small dead-end street. I have a great view of nature from my window; trees, birds, the sea. Extremely conducive to writing.

I was diagnosed with bipolar disorder in 2009 so decided to retire as a State Registered Nurse after 22 years of service. The further away that I get from nursing, the less I miss it. With the benefit of hindsight I believe that many years of alcohol abuse masked the symptoms of my bipolar disorder.

I have been an online recording artist and multi-instrumentalist for many years but tired of the hype in 2015. This is when I took to writing seriously. I have always enjoyed writing and think that I am a better writer than musician. It certainly comes easier to me.

My blogs are generally based on, as the title of my blog suggests, random thoughts. They can be short fictional pieces, works based on real life events, behavioural psychology and nature. I also have a poetry blog which I consider my forte.

My two bad habits are cigarettes and coarse language. I do not use coarse language in my blog entries.

That’s about me in a nutshell.
